Sponsoring Committee

The Sponsoring Committee is a group of parents and volunteers working with squadron staff to represent the Air Cadet Program within the local community. Their role is to ensure indispensable local support for squadron needs as well as take care of some of the logistics involved in the squadron activities and act as a liaison.

COs report

Annual Ceremonial Review

ACR will be the 1st weekend in June. Possibility of practise on Saturday and parade on the 9th. 

Cpt. Lee has contacted the Regional Cadet Support Unit for the availability of a Reviewing Officer. 

Action: SSC to book the Howard Darwin arena on Merivale Rd. and order chairs. 200 chairs will be required. Refreshments will be required. Joey will look after the trophies. Lunch will be provided on the day of the parade. 

Summer Camp

March 18th Staff Cadet deadline for applications for summer camp.

We will have more information on the summer programs by the end of February. 

Activities 

First Aid last week

Regional winter FTX next weekend at Otter Lake in Quebec.

FTX Last weekend of April. SSC members would be invited to attend the dinner on the Saturday. Cpt. Labelle will present the proposal for meals etc. 

Marksmanship Competition March 9th. There will be a marksmanship day for the cadets that are not part of the team.

Old business : 

Mess dinner: Callum has attempted to contact the Westboro Legion and All Saints Church, who referred us to the Legion. 

Masonic Hall: $850 for the rental of the hall, 6 foot tables but we would have to bring in our own catering

Nepean High School: $22/hr for room rental

Carol Ann will look at St. Stephen Presbyterian Church. 

Non-military functions at not being hosted in the Mess

Salla San Marco would be roughly $5 500 (assuming no hall rental), not including tip and 

Budget : approx $35/person; $200 for hall rental; 20% gratuity; taxes 

Kiwanis will cover expenses for which there are receipts.

Costs for the online module through the ecommerce system $60/year.

Follow up with other squadrons to see if they may be interested in sharing the costs

75 Squadron has rented Tip Tap Pay for April. TJ will reach out to explore options of sharing with them.

Need to think through our accountability if we share with another squadron; how the money will be transferred (set up fee for 2nd squadron), the branding for the squadron.

Action: Joey to look into some of the details re: Tip Tap pay and we may call a virtual meeting to seek approval to leverage 75 Squadron’s rental in April. 

New business 

Callum will join TJ for Bingo on March 4th. When the new schedule comes out TJ will look potential volunteers in the eye and make them squirm until they acquiesce.

Review of the financial statement for January

Outstanding payments: 

$5000 for League fees; $1500 Dyson and the school rental. Cpt Lee has submitted the receipts.
