211 Squadron – Weekly Announcements (March 14th 2019)

Secondly, please make sure that before attending a Cadet activity following a significant weather event, that you first verify the squadron calendar available on the squadron website or the Facebook page to ensure the activity is still ongoing.

Junior Ground School
Junior ground school will be Monday March 18th at 6:30pm at NDHS.
There will be no marksmanship practice this Friday due to the marksmanship competition this Saturday. Regular practice will recommence Friday March 22nd from 1900 to 2100 at the QMO (142 Chemin Freeman).
Drill Team Tuesday March 19th at NDHS from 18:30 to 20:30.

Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence (deadline Friday March 15th)
The criteria for the medal is below and it is open to all levels of cadets. The Royal Canadian Legion (RCL) Cadet medal of Excellence is awarded in recognition for individual endeavours in citizenship that meet or enhance the aims and objectives of the cadet movement. The medal may be awarded only once to any one individual.
The main objective in awarding the RCL Cadet Medal of Excellence is to emphasize the citizenship aspects of the cadet program. To be eligible for consideration, a cadet must meet the following conditions:
- met all requirements of the corps annual mandatory and optional training programs
- have participated in a minimum of three community service events (more weight given to events outside of the cadet program) in addition to those supported by the cadet unity through the LHQ program
- regarded by peers and superiors as exemplifying the model cadet
- enhance the cadet corps through:
- co-operation with peers and subordinates
- promoting goodwill and morale within the corps
- aiding in the development of group identity and cohesiveness
- supporting and assisting fellow unit members
- his/her involvement in the local community
All the cadets interested in being considered for the medal should send an e-mail to Cpt Fortin at firstname.lastname@example.org before March 15th 2019. They must their intention and all the community service hours and details of the community service (since it is one the criteria of the medal). We will consider the community service only for the current training year (from September 2018 to now). The contact information for the signatory each community service activity must also be included.
Regular Training Night (Wednesday March 20th @ NDHS)
Next Wednesday is a regular training night in winter dress.
Super Fun Night – Funhaven (Wednesday March 27th @ Funhaven)
A fun night at Funhaven (1050 Baxter Rd, Ottawa) from 1800hr to 2000hr with the squadron, it will be civilian dress. Sign-up and any other pertinent details will follow.
