211 Squadron – Weekly Announcements (January 10th 2019)
Please make sure that before attending a Cadet activity following a significant weather event, that you first verify the squadron calendar available on the squadron website or the Facebook page to ensure the activity is still ongoing.
Band this Friday at Ottawa Technical Secondary School, 485 Donald St, from 18:15 to 20:30. For any questions, please contact FSgt Hatzis.
Biathlon is at 8:30 Saturday morning at Camp Fortune. Bring your ski equipment and the usual hat, gloves or mitts, plenty of water, snacks and lunch. (No peanut or other nut butters please). You must confirm your attendance by 6pm Friday to email@example.com
Senior Ground School:
Senior Ground School Monday January 14th from 18hr30 to 20hr30 at NDHS
There will be a marksmanship practice this Friday Jan. 11. It will be from 1900 to 2100 at 142 Chemin Freeman.
Drill Team Tuesday January 15th at NDHS from 18:30 to 20:30. Any cadets interested in joining the drill team should speak to FSgt McCloskey.
Marksmanship Clinic (Saturday January 12th @ 142 Chemin Freeman):
The marksmanship clinic or familiarization day will take place on Saturday, January 12. It will be from 12:30 to 17:00 (5 pm) at the QMO, 142 Chemin Freeman. The time will be divided into three time slots, 1.5 hours long each. There is a limited amount of spots available. Mess Dinner (Friday January 25th @ RCAF Mess):
The annual mess dinner for the squadron is going to be Friday January 25th, sign up will be available on Wednesday evenings at cadets starting January 9th. A deposit of $5 is needed with sign up. It will be held at the RCAF mess located at 158 Gloucester street, Ottawa.
Cadets are to arrive at 18:15 and should be completed at 21:15. Dress is C8, see attached dress, info on dress can be found in the attached PDF.
Effective Speaking Coaching (Thursday Jan 17th @ NDHS):
Effective speaking is a critical skill for everything from interviews to leadership initiatives. 211 Ottawa Kiwanis Air Cadets is offering instruction and coaching on Effective Speaking in on Thurs Jan 17th at NDHS 18:30-20:30 to prepare for the competition.
There will be a Squadron competition at the end of Jan/Feb (date TBD) and the winner will have the privilege of representing the squadron at the regional competition in February 24-2019 Aviation museum.
