Weekly Announcements (04/12/2021) [UPDATED]

Admin note: If you cannot attend a training night YOU MUST inform your Fcmdt AND the Administration Officer (jean-simon.brassard@cadets.gc.ca or in a Direct message on Discord). Attendance counts towards promotions, camps, and much more.

 

Virtual Training Night

Who: Level 1’s level 5’s not required to be at the Legion.

Where: Discord platform, parade square channel

Date: Wednesday, December 8th, 2021

When: 18hr30 – 21hr00

Dress: C1-A for all levels (Winter dress with a blue dress shirt, tie and medals), or appropriate civilian attire (white shirt and black pants).

More Info: Don’t forget to set your account to online- Green circle beside your name, otherwise attendance isn’t accounted for.

 

In-Person Training Night

Who: Level 3

Where: Westboro Legion Upper Hall enter by 389 Richmond St

Date: Wednesday, December 8th, 2021

When: 18hr30 – 21hr00

Dress: C1-A for all levels (Winter dress with a blue dress shirt, tie and medals), or appropriate civilian attire (white shirt and black pants).

More Info: Parents are to drop off cadets behind the Legion at the intersection of Winston Ave and Madison Ave (and cadets walk up Winston to Richmond). Parents are not to enter the Legion building. When picking up, cadets should also be picked up in the Ottawa Mortgage Broker parking lot (off of Madison Ave).  Again, parents should stay in their vehicles and wait for their cadets. Cadets must have their masks and will be asked about symptoms and to sign in when entering the Legion.

 

In-Person Training Night

Who: Level 2

Where: Westboro Legion Lower Hall enter by 391 Richmond St

Dress: C1-A for all levels (Winter dress with a blue dress shirt, tie and medals), or appropriate civilian attire (white shirt and black pants).

Biathlon

Who: Any cadet interested in participating or competing in the biathlon competition. Those interested must sign up with the Biathlon CPI (Sgt Kilty) and the coaches at 211squadronbiathlon@gmail.com.

Date: Every Saturday morning

When: 09hr00 – 10hr30

Where: Camp Fortune, 300 ch Dunlop, Chelsea, Qc (meet at the furthest parking lot at the ski resort. You drive into the resort parking lot, and continue straight back, past the first aid post, to the lot on the back left)

Dress: Workout clothing appropriate for outdoor running (running shoes, mitts, toque, jacket).

More Info: Send a picture of your current health card to 211squadronbiathlon@gmail.com and write to the CPI that it has been sent as soon as possible (prior to the next practice). Cadets must have a mask with them and wear it other than when running. Cadets must bring a filled water bottle and snacks (if wanted). Cadets will not be allowed to share food and drinks.

 

Marksmanship

Who: Any cadet interested must register with FSgt Maguire (DM in Discord) as there is a limited amount of cadets that can participate each week. A list of participants will be posted weekly in the Marksmanship channel. If you cannot see the channel, it means that you are not registered yet.

Date: Saturdays

When: 13hr00 – 15hr00

Where: Unit 11, Edifice Industrial, 142 Chemin Freeman, Gatineau

Dress: Appropriate civilian attire

More info: Bring a water bottle and snacks. No food is to be shared and you must be wearing your mask at all times.

 

Announcement from the Legion Branch 480

The Legion Branch 480 is a strong supporter of the squadron and has generously supported the cadets with the use of their facilities this Fall while we have not had access to the school.  The Legion is running its annual Christmas raffle. Families that are interested can see the poster here for information to purchase tickets and see the prizes. The draw date is December 18th, 2021.

 

Air Cadet League of Canada’s National Education Scholarship

Who: Cadets who will be entering a post-secondary program in September 2022 who are cadets on April 1st, 2022 or who have aged out between April 2nd, 2021 – April 1st, 2022.

Deadline to Apply: April 1st, 2022

More info: Please note that the application requires the recommendation of the Commanding Officer.  As a result, you must inform the CO (matthew.lee@cadets.gc.ca) prior to your application.  Your completed application should also be submitted prior to the League’s application deadline so that the CO has time to provide his recommendation. Questions can be directed to the CO.

 

Junior Cadets Review Day – Mandatory [Rescheduled]

Who: All cadets that will be level 1-2-3 for the upcoming training year. (All cadets that were levels 1-2 in the 2020-2021 training year).  Note that this is a mandatory event and if you are not present you must ensure that your Flight staff knows of your absence.

Where: TBD

Date: Sunday, January 16th, 2021

When: TBD

Dress: Appropriate civilian attire and bring with you sports clothes and shoes.

More Information: You also need to bring your complete uniform (if it has been issued to you so far, some will be distributed on-site as well), boots, boot polish, and cloth. Girls: Hair kit necessary to do your hair to standards (i.e. hair gel, elastics same colour as hair, hair net, bobby pins, hairbrush, etc. )

 

Band

Who: All cadets interested in learning and playing an instrument.

Registration: Send a DM to FSgt Yan on Discord

Where: TBD but virtual for the moment

When: Starting in Jan 2022

More info: You must send rank, first and last name as well as what instrument you are interested in playing. If you will be using your own instrument or you will be borrowing an instrument from the unit. If you have interested but unsure what instruments are available you may also write to FSgt Yan and communicate that with him.

 

Senior Cadets Review Day – Mandatory

Who: All level 4 and 4 cadets. This is a mandatory event and if you cannot be there you must let your flight staff know.
