Special Announcement on Cadet Activities

Update for Parents and Cadets regarding Cadet activities at 211 Sqn

Dear Parents and Cadets,

The situation with the COVID-19 outbreak has resulted in a fluid and constantly changing situation behind the scenes.  As you have seen on the website announcements, there have been many activity cancellations to prevent the spread of illness.

The ongoing safety of Cadets and their families is of prime concern.

The Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario and the Government of Quebec have provided strict guidelines discouraging the gathering of individuals. The purposes of the guidelines is to prevent the spread of illness.

Clearly these directives impact the type of activities that can be conducted at Cadets.  As of today, the League and the Cadet program have directed that all cadet activities are cancelled until further notice, with one exception…

Cadets can collaborate online.

211 Sqn is in the process of putting together study packages and lessons that can be delivered online to maintain Cadet training.  We are in the process of putting together collaboration tools for this purpose.  It is expected that the initial roll-out will take place within two weeks.  We plan to build on that so please keep an eye out for upcoming announcements.

The Cadet program will get back online eventually, it’s only a matter of when.  Right now we do not have a date.  We are also waiting for confirmation on summer camp activities. There has been no confirmation as of yet.

SSC meetings and New Members

The Squadron Sponsoring Committee will be meeting online and planning for the next year.  Every year there is a slight rotation of volunteers on the SSC.  The SSC is mostly comprised of parents and guardians of Cadets.  We are looking for volunteers for the 2020-2021 Cadet year, and planning will begin shortly.  Please be absolutely guaranteed that this is a fun group and has the benefits of meeting new friends and learning new skills.  You’ll also have input into cadet activities and be able to share your ideas on how to make the program better.  The best benefit is to the Cadets.  You’ll be able to take part in the cadet movement.  Please consider reaching out if this is something you may be interested in.

You can submit your information and start the conversation by filling out this form.

More updates will follow in the days ahead.

Sincerely,

Captain Julie Fortin
